Aukelos

Current technologies used in radiotherapy limit the adoption in clinical practice of innovative therapeutic approaches, such as the use of very high-energy electrons or the FLASH effect. Aukelos is a startup aiming to meet these innovation needs with a new type of particle accelerator based on recently developed laser–plasma photonic systems. Thanks to an experienced and multidisciplinary team, it builds on the results achieved at the ILIL laboratory of CNR-INO in laser-driven particle acceleration and their use in the biomedical field to develop the technologies necessary for the translation of these devices into the medical field. These technologies will make it possible to reduce the size and cost of medical accelerators, enabling the clinical spread of the most advanced radiotherapy approaches.
