BroadR-Reach Ethernet Technology Overview

Abstract

Ethernet is a well-entrenched technology for Enterprise and Consumer applications with billions of Ethernet enabled ports deployed. Broadcom has taken an innovative approach with its BroadR-Reach technology that now brings Ethernet over a single unshielded twisted pair. With BroadR-Reach Ethernet, optimization is done and limited to the PHY, allowing easier adoption and leverage of all other layer 2 and above technologies available in the market.  This presentation will briefly describe BroadR-Reach technology, the benefits it brings over traditional Ethernet and show how the benefits of this technology is driving adoption of Ethernet in the automotive space and other potential markets.

Dr. Ali Abaye,  Senior Director of Product Marketing, Broadcom Corporation

Dr. Ali Abaye serves as Senior Director of Product Marketing for the Infrastructure & Networking Group at Broadcom Corporation, responsible for the company’s networking portfolio of automotive devices and 1G and 10G copper physical layer transceivers (PHYs).
Prior to Broadcom, Dr. Abaye served as System Architect for the Broadband and Wireless System Engineering division at Nortel. Prior to Nortel, he held various technical and strategic marketing positions at Centillium Communications.
Dr. Abaye holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
