MBC150

The MECOS Magnetic Bearing Electronics MBC150 is a device for active magnetic levitation of rotor systems along five axes. It consists of a wide-range power supply, an amplifier module with 10 power channels, a motherboard with integrated sensor electronics, as well as an operating panel with an LCD display.

The power amplifiers feature a wide range, meaning positional deviations of the levitating rotor can be quickly corrected. Regulation is performed by means of a microcontroller, which simultaneously executes various control and monitoring functions. Vibrations are dampened by means of unbalance compensation in the control system.

The control panel is used for executing important system functions, such as lifting and lowering the rotor, as well as for carrying out automatic sensor calibration. Various operating states can also be read off right on the control panel.

The integrated Ethernet interface enables communication with a PC. Numerous system parameters can be changed using the optionally available MATLAB® toolbox for MECOS magnetic bearing systems (MecosTools). In addition, real-time measurements can be carried out for all process variables of the magnetic bearing system.

The power supply of the Magnetic Bearing Electronics MBC150 is usually supplied with DC via the intermediate circuit voltage of an inverter. In the event of a power failure, the rotational energy is used to keep the rotor flaoting down to low speeds. No UPS is required. In addition to the supply with DC voltage, it is also possible to connect the power supply to the three-phase network.

For communication with external control and monitoring systems of all types, the Magnetic Bearing Electronics Assembly MBC150 offers a configurable interface consisting of potential-free, digital I/O channels as well as an EtherCAT connector.
