High Efficiency Robotic Joint
The maxon High Efficiency Joints (HEJ) are modern, quasi-direct robotic actuators. Their core features are high torque density, robustness against overloads, an integrated controller, IP67-sealing, as well as advanced impedance control capabilities.
They utilize the unbeatable efficiency of planetary gears combined with high-torque motors. Their output is highly backdrivable and inherently compliant, which also allows the precise measurement and control of the output torque (which facilitates impedance control).
Typcially, these systems are used in modern robotics applications ranging from humanoids to mobile manipulators, but thanks to their cost-efficient and robust design, can also be used in industrial automation applications (e.g., pressing, custom-made robots).
