digsy® fusion SX – EtherCAT and Safety over EtherCAT for mobile machines

Mobile machines increasingly combine hydraulics with electric drives, precise positioning and automated functions. EtherCAT is established for exactly these tasks in factory automation – but rugged controllers that can run an EtherCAT network on a crane, a forklift or a mining vehicle are hard to find. digsy® fusion SX closes this gap: the safety controller from INTER CONTROL can now operate as EtherCAT master and as FSoE (Safety over EtherCAT) master.

Machine builders can connect EtherCAT drives, sensors and I/O directly to the vehicle controller and transmit safety-related signals over the same network – without a gateway to an industrial PLC that needs a protected cabinet.

What the controller brings to the machine:

• Safety architecture: Category 2 and Category 3 structures, designed for PL d according to EN ISO 13849 (certification in preparation)
• 64-bit multicore processor in the GHz range with interference-free separation of safety and standard application
• Additional interfaces: Ethernet, Single Pair Ethernet, LIN and USB. Besides EtherCAT, further fieldbus systems can be supported, enabling integration into existing vehicle architectures
• Modular I/O: scalable from 0 to 216 multifunctional inputs and outputs with one safe and up to two standard I/O modules, for central or decentralised control concepts
• Built for harsh environments: robust housing against dust, moisture and stone impact, extended temperature range, no active cooling
• Programming with CODESYS V3.5 SIL2, file system for data logging
