hiDOF was founded by a group of engineers from Willow Garage seeking to leverage advanced robotic technology and tools for commercial applications. Its founding team has experience in autonomous navigation, motion planning, motion control, probabilistic estimation techniques, computer vision, sensor processing, machine learning, and development for distributed systems, big data, and more. hiDOF believes in the power of community, back-plane development, and Open Source. hiDOF's founders are the original authors of many components of the Robot Operating System (ROS) and active contributors to the project. hiDOF leverages the extensive tool-chain that ROS provides to solve complex problems efficiently.
