| The Fundamentals of EtherCAT | |

Thursday July 10th , 8:00am-12:30pm
Joey Stubbs, PE, PMP
Outstanding performance, flexible topology, simple configuration, support of legacy field buses, and undercutting of standard field bus costs characterize EtherCAT (Ethernet for control automation technology), the real-time Ethernet technology. EtherCAT features include high precision device synchronization, a cable redundancy option, and a functional safety protocol (SIL3). EtherCAT is an international standard (IEC, ISO and SEMI). EtherCAT sets new standards where conventional field bus systems reach their limits: 1000 distributed I/Os in 30μs, almost unlimited network size, and optimum vertical integration thanks to Ethernet and internet technologies. With EtherCAT, the costly Ethernet star topology can be replaced with a simple line or tree structure – no expensive infrastructure components are required. All types of Ethernet devices can be integrated via a switch or switch port. This seminar will focus on the EtherCAT operating principles, what differentiates it from its competition, and will provide an overview of EtherCAT products from Beckhoff Automation.
To register please contact Megan Sullivan by email at The deadline for purchase orders is Thursday, July 3rd. Please note that we reserve the right to cancel the seminar due to insufficient attendance.
Seminar qualifies for 2.5 PDHs (Professional Development Hours) for registered professionals
