ECS Servo System

The ECS servo system comprises compact DC-supplied servo modules capable of up to 3 times current overload, designed specifically for multi-axis applications with both, high dynamics and excellent drive performance.

The distribution of intelligence between the control system and servo modules can be optimised according the application. Highest precision is achieved in multi-axis coordinated movements by synchronised communication via EtherCAT or other field bus systems at cycle times down to 1 ms. The ECS servo system is therefore ideal for gantry systems, robots, packaging machines or feeding and removal devices in industrial handling.

To ensure simple, efficient and comfortable configuration and commissioning, task specific software for general purpose servo, Positioning, or Motion applications is available.

These software packages have been designed specifically for operation in multi-axis groupes controlled by a PLC, a motion controller or a PC-based control system and ensure precise control cycle synchronisation for all axes to the microsecond.

Motion software is designed specifically for multi-axis applications controlled by a central motion controller.

  • “Velocity mode”

and 19 different homing modes, as well as torque precontrol are implemented. In addition, “safe standstill” function according to EN 954-1, Category 3 and motor holding brake logic are also standard features. Positioning software is capable of up to 15 positioning profiles. Positioning may be absolute, relative, modulo (i.e. relative and infinite) or based on a master frequency. Various forms of touch probe positioning are also supported as well as speed override and torque derating once the target position has been reached. In addition to eight different options for referencing, “safe standstill” and motor holding brake logic are also standard features.
