Institut für Computertechnik (ICT),
Fakultät für Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik,
Technische Universität Wien (TU Wien)

The Institute of Computer Technology was founded in 1972 by the computing pioneer Prof. Dr. Heinz Zemanek as Institute for Data Processing. It belongs to the Faculty for Electrical Engineering and Information Technology and understands itself as a bridge between Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. In research and teaching the main topics are the architecture and design of digital and analog integrated circuits that are the hardware of SoCs, as well as the embedded software, that defines the functions and ensures flawless operation of a SoC.

Institut für Fertigungstechnik und Photonische Technologien (IFT),
Fakultät für Maschinenwesen und Betriebswissenschaften,
Technische Universität Wien (TU Wien)

The Institute of Production Engineering and Photonic Technologies (IFT) of the TU Wien covers a wide range of production processes, machine tool techniques and automation in the field of production engineering. The spectrum of working activities covers production planning and manufacturing systems, process automation and NC-control, development and optimization of machine tools including innovative machine tool concepts like parallel kinematics, machining processes, particularly cutting with geometrically defined and undefined cutting edges or laser technology as well as ECM-technologies and rapid manufacturing. Results of research work are directly led over to academic education, which allows a practically oriented training and guarantees a comprehensive insight into production engineering.
