Safety over EtherCAT

Abstract

Safety over EtherCAT meets both machine safety and personal safety requirements. We will introduce the technology and show how it can be applied in various applications from general machine building to semiconductor manufacturing.

Dr. Guido Beckmann, Technology Marketing, EtherCAT Technology Group

Dr. Guido Beckmann studied Electronic Engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig. Industrial communication technologies have always been one of his peculiar interest. Today he is part of the EtherCAT Technology Group (ETG) team and promotes and supports the worldwide usage of EtherCAT in all kind of applications.
While working for a leading drive manufacturer he became project manager for the development of drive-integrated safety functions and an expert for functional safety. Within ETG he is now responsible for the support of Safety over EtherCAT, which combines both topics – communication and safety.
